The Oknyanskyi District Court of the Odessa region considered a case of administrative offense against a programmer-engineer of Samsung Electronics for attempting to illegally cross the border.
According to the case materials, on October 5, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. on the western outskirts of the settlement of Topaly, Podilskyi district, Odessa region, at a distance of up to 1800 m from the state border of Ukraine, an AIT member was discovered, who, in a group of people on foot with documents certifying his identity, attempted to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine to exit Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova.
The man did not appear at the court hearing, although he was duly notified of the date and time of the case hearing, but he filed an application with the court to have the case heard in his absence, and pleaded guilty.
In written explanations, the programmer explained that he intended to cross the state border of Ukraine into the Republic of Moldova with the aim of further moving to Poland. The instructions on how to cross the border were given via mobile phone. For this purpose, he, together with other members of the group, arrived at the border, where he was discovered by border guards.
The court ruled to hold the programmer administratively liable and impose an administrative penalty on him in the form of a fine of UAH 13,600 without confiscation of the tools and means of committing the offense.
The IT worker must also pay a court fee in the amount of UAH 605.60 to the state revenue.
The resolution may be appealed by the person held administratively liable, by the defense attorney, to the Odessa Court of Appeal through the Oknyanskyi District Court of Odessa Region within ten days from the date of the resolution.
