Unmanned Systems Forces Trained Long-Range Drones to Launch Unguided Missiles — Attacked Crimea for the First Time
The UAS forces have used long-range drones equipped with unguided rockets for the first time. SBS commander Robert «Madyar» Brovdi announced this on May 17 — and immediately showed the result: an attack on a strategic communications hub of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in occupied Crimea.
The strike used FP-½ drones manufactured by the Ukrainian company Fire Point. The device is capable of flying up to 500 km and carries a warhead weighing up to 60 kg.
Unguided rocket launchers (UNURs) are weapons traditionally used by helicopters and attack aircraft. Now they have learned how to hang them under drones. According to Brody, this significantly expands the combat capabilities of drones.
Separately, the commander explained the tactical meaning of the combination: a drone with NURSs is effective against MANPADS crews and machine gunners covering Russian air defense elements. That is, it is not just a larger explosive on board — but a new tool for destroying air defense systems before the main strike.
By the way, it was the NURSs that the Russians have been actively using against Ukrainian positions since 2022 — near Bakhmut, Soledar, Urozhayne, and Krasnohorivka. Now the SBS is returning this tactic.
