The Security Service has located the fragments of a Russian ballistic missile that the enemy used to strike the Lviv region on the night of January 8-9, 2026. According to preliminary information, the discovered components belong to the Oreshnik missile complex.
In fact, the SBU discovered the "brains" of the missile, as well as nozzles, engine fragments, and guidance mechanisms.
According to the investigation, the launch was carried out from the Kapustin Yar test site. The SBU emphasizes that the attack was aimed exclusively at civilian infrastructure near the border with the EU in order to deprive the region of life support in frosty conditions. The special service qualifies this strike as a war crime under Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Military expert Sergey "Flash" Bezkrestnov also revealed details about the actual penetration capability of this missile's warheads, debunking Russian myths about its "bunker" power.
According to him, the kinetic elements pierced two concrete slabs and hit the basement archive, where, ironically, the complete collection of Lenin's works was kept.
"All these stories from Russian channels about deep-sea impacts penetrating tens of meters into the ground are not true," the expert concluded, commenting on the consequences of the hit.
As a reminder, the Russians have used the Oreshnik ballistic missile against Ukraine for the second time. In this regard, Ukraine is calling for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council and the Ukraine-NATO Council.
