Cyber experts and SBU investigators exposed an Internet agitator in Zhytomyr who expected the city to be "liberated" by racists, despised Ukrainians, and openly justified the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine.
According to the pre-trial investigation, the attacker turned out to be a 53-year-old IT specialist who had already come to the attention of the special services due to his anti-Ukrainian position after the start of the full-scale invasion.
Despite this, the man made an attempt to anonymize his accounts and continued active communication in separatist Telegram channels.
"In his posts and comments, he expected the capture of Zhytomyr by the occupiers, called for the division of the territory of Ukraine, and publicly humiliated Ukrainians. In addition, the defendant mocked state symbols and justified Russia's crimes. Such statements and support for other members of hostile communities indicated his conscious support for informational and subversive activities in favor of the aggressor state," the SBU statement said .
During a search of the perpetrator's residence, law enforcement officers seized computer equipment and a mobile phone. He now faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.
