The security service has detained a Russian intelligence agent in the Donetsk region who was preparing coordinates for air attacks by pro-Russian separatists on the frontline town of Kostyantynivka. He turned out to be a local 40-year-old IT specialist.
The security service has detained a Russian intelligence agent in the Donetsk region who was preparing coordinates for air attacks by pro-Russian separatists on the frontline town of Kostyantynivka. He turned out to be a local 40-year-old IT specialist.
As the investigation established , the informant was recruited on one of the banned social networks. There, the Russian military offered him a close relationship in exchange for intelligence information.
Among the main objects of interest to the Russians were fortified areas and reserve command posts of the Ukrainian troops. To collect the relevant geolocations, the informant went around the city and its surroundings.
According to available information, if the coordinates were obtained, the occupiers planned to carry out a new series of strikes on Kostyantynivka using guided bombs.
SBU officers prevented this and detained the informant at the initial stage of his intelligence activity.
The perpetrator is being held without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
