Zelensky told the Financial Times that the Ukrainian military had already achieved «positive» results in the Middle East. They had managed to intercept Iranian Shahed suicide drones in several Gulf countries where US military infrastructure is located.
«Did we destroy them? Yes, we did. In those countries that opened their air defense systems to us, our experts were able to very quickly provide recommendations on strengthening these systems,» he said, adding that he had seen videos of Ukrainian weapons shooting down Iranian suicide drones.
The President of Ukraine noted that the technologies of Ukrainian manufacturers allowed for the successful interception of both old Iranian Shahed drones and their improved versions with jet engines.
Zelenskyy declined to name the countries where Iranian drones were shot down, but he noted that in March, more than 200 Ukrainian experts, interceptor drones, and electronic warfare systems were sent to countries in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf.
«We have concluded 10-year agreements with three countries. Ukrainian companies will cooperate with the armed forces of these countries to protect specific facilities. Negotiations with Oman on security are currently underway, and we are also negotiating with Kuwait and Bahrain,» the President of Ukraine said.
Ukrainian officials previously reported that after the US and Israeli attack on Iran, interest in cheap Ukrainian interceptor drones that can shoot down Shahed kamikaze drones has increased sharply.
