The Ministry of Digital Affairs updates the tax special space for technology companies: how "Diia.City 2.0" will work
Not only software developers, but also hardware and deep tech companies will be able to be in the special regime of «Diia.City». That is, the so-called «Diya.City 2.0» is being formed. What is its concept? — explained the interim head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs Oleksandr Bornyakov.
«The concept of Diia.City 2.0 looks like this: we want to take promising sub-industries that have great growth potential, make a tailored suit for them — like a suit that is sewn individually for the customer. We justify each such decision economically and show that, provided there are incentives, their economic effect will increase a hundredfold. These companies will be able to hire thousands of people and work for export,» said Oleksandr Bornyakov, Acting Minister of Digital Transformation, in an interview for DOU and the YouTube channel «UT-2».
As an example, Bornyakov cited the production of bionic prostheses, which is engaged in by only two companies in Ukraine. Thanks to the concept of «Diia.City 2.0», their number can be significantly increased and help work for export, believes the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs.
At the same time, the expansion of «Diia.City» for hardware and deep tech companies may overlap with Defence City, an initiative currently being developed by the Ministry of Defense. But, according to Bornyakov, there is a significant difference between them.
«Defence City was created for defense industry manufacturing companies. These are large enterprises with production facilities, workshops, warehouses, and product residues. In contrast, Diia.City is focused on companies that create an intellectual product. They do not have such large-scale tangible assets — factories or warehouses with ready-made mines,» explained the interim head of the Ministry of Defense.
