Never before have drones with artificial intelligence carried out such precise strikes on Russian military air bases as during Operation Spiderweb.
On June 1, Ukrainian drones with artificial intelligence attacked several Russian military airfields in different regions. The AI was trained on exhibits displayed, in particular, at the Poltava Museum of Long-Range and Strategic Aviation.
More than 40 aircraft were destroyed or damaged, including strategic bombers that the Russian Federation uses to kill civilians. Unlike previous attacks, the drones did not fly thousands of kilometers from Ukraine. Instead, they were transported across Russian territory by trucks and then lifted into the air for surprise strikes.
«Last year, Ukrainian military intelligence scanned Russian bombers and trained artificial intelligence to recognize them and execute automatic dive attack algorithms. Today we saw the results,» Clash Report reports.
Two types of drones were used — vertical take-off quadcopters and «winged-type» drones launched from mini-catapults.
«In total, 117 drones were used in the operation. And the corresponding number of drone operators worked. 34% of strategic cruise missile carriers at the airfields were hit. Our people operated in the territory of different Russian regions — in three time zones. And our people were withdrawn from the territory of Russia on the eve of the operation, now they are safe — those who helped us,» said President Volodymyr Zelensky.
As a reminder, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted a large-scale special operation to destroy enemy Russian aircraft on June 1. As a result of the UAV attack, at least 40 aircraft were damaged, including the A-50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft, the Tu-95 strategic missile bomber, and the Tu-22M3 supersonic long-range strategic missile bomber.
