“Politicians provide such a rich source of data because they can’t stop talking.” The UK has created digital versions of all 650 members of parliament

A former chief of staff to a Tory minister, Leon Emirali, has launched Nostrada, an AI service with digital versions of all members of the British Parliament. The AI recreates the political positions of elected representatives and their mannerisms.
AI doppelgangers of 650 members of the UK parliament are designed for diplomats, lobbyists and members of the public. Users can learn about each MP’s position on various issues, writes The Guardian.
«Politicians provide such a rich source of data because they can’t shut up,» says Emirali. «They have an opinion on everything, and when you build an AI product, it has to be perfect, because your product is only as good as your data.»
Emirali says his idea was born in 2017, when he unsuccessfully tried to convince the Conservatives to create a chatbot for then-Prime Minister Theresa May, called MayBot, which could provide a «conversation summary» on key issues.
The accuracy of Nostrada’s new chatbots is undoubtedly being questioned by politicians themselves.

AI models are trained on a vast array of written and spoken materials from politicians that can be found online. And no matter how hard you try to convince one of them, she won’t change her mind. That’s because the models weren’t trained on input data and can’t learn.
Despite all the potential uses of Nostrada, Emirali acknowledges that there is a risk that AI could become a «disincentive» for potential voters who rely entirely on it to make decisions for them.
He said: «There are too many nuances in politics that AI might not pick up on for voters to fully rely on it. We hope that for people who are knowledgeable about politics, who have an eye for it, this can be very useful. I wouldn’t want this tool to be used to influence how someone should vote, for people who don’t have that experience and don’t follow politics every day.»
The Guardian asked the digital twin of each member of parliament: «If the UK had a new prime minister after Keir Starmer, who would you like to see in that position?» Most refused to answer. The avatar of Health Secretary Wes Streeting voted for himself.
Тест dev.ua
