A schoolboy from Zaporizhzhia created a smart bracelet for people with autism: he will present his development in Brazil
Kyrylo Pavlyuk, an eleventh-grader from Zaporizhia, has developed a prototype of a smart device called Safe Space that can help people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) notice signs of sensory overload. With this development, the young inventor will represent Ukraine at the prestigious international science and technology fair MOSTRATEC-2026 in Brazil.

The student's success was announced by the acting head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Mykhailo Semikin.
How the Safe Space prototype works
For many autistic people, external stimuli—loud sounds, bright lights, crowds, or touch—can become too intense. This often makes it difficult for the person to independently track when they are approaching a critical point in time to rest or change their environment.
The idea of Kyrylo, who studies at the Scientific Lyceum of the Khortytsya National Academy, is to track the user's physiological indicators using special sensors:
sensors on the bracelet record the state of the body and transmit information to the mobile application;
The system processes the indicators and signals the first signs of sensory overload.
Safe Space is currently at the prototype stage, so the device will undergo additional testing, algorithm improvements, and verification of the reliability of signal recognition.
Development in hiding
Kyrylo created his project in front-line Zaporizhzhia, where due to the constant threat of shelling, studies at the lyceum take place in equipped shelters. The school's teachers helped to reveal the student's potential and refine the idea.
Now the guy is preparing for a trip to the city of Novo Hamburgo (Brazil), where the MOSTRATEC-2026 fair will be held from October 26 to 30, 2026, which annually brings together young scientists and inventors from all over the world.
A schoolboy from Mykolaiv created an MVP of an application to combat social media addiction. The development of the full version is estimated at $280,000
