SIM cards in passports and internet shutdowns during alarms. Sergey "Flash" called for radical action against Russia's new drones
Defense Ministry advisor and radio technology expert Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov called on the authorities and society to consider introducing strict restrictions on the mobile communications market. The reason is a new tactic by the Russians, who have begun to massively use Ukrainian LTE networks to guide their drones.
According to the expert, the enemy has adopted the Ukrainian tactic of using "queens" - large winged UAVs that deliver FPV drones to the rear.
"They figured out that it is possible to deliver FPV drones on winged UAVs to places where mobile communication is good and stable, and then drop them on objects there. Such a drone is controlled by an operator from Russia via the LTE network, and the flight time is a matter of minutes," explains "Flash."
To do this, the enemy uses Ukrainian SIM cards, which are freely purchased by "Zhduns" in unlimited quantities and transported to the Russian Federation.
To make life difficult for the enemy, Serhiy Beskrestnov proposes two "politically unpopular" but necessary steps during martial law:
Sale of SIM cards exclusively by passport and with a limit per person. This will stop the uncontrolled wholesale sale of packages (when one person can buy 3,000 cards for the enemy).
Disabling mobile internet (data transfer) during air alerts in certain zones or formats.
"Flash" admits that these measures will not provide a 100% guarantee, because even in Russia, where selling by passport has been in effect for a long time, there are "gray" schemes through front persons. However, this will critically reduce the scale of the threat.
“Imagine that now any “Zhdun” can buy 3,000 cards without any problems and send them to the Russian Federation… Selling by passport will at least somehow limit the gigantic scale of this uncontrolled process,” the expert emphasizes.
He also added that Ukrainian specialists are working on countermeasures around the clock, but the enemy is constantly looking for new ways to bypass defenses.
Earlier, Sergey "Flash" reported that Russian Shahed-136 attack drones can already carry FPV drones.
