Ukrainian defense tech company Vyriy Industries has unveiled a new tactical reconnaissance drone, the Slavic. It was created as a Ukrainian alternative to commercial drones like the DJI Mavic, but with longer flight time and range so that crews can operate further from the front line.

The drone has already been tested in combat conditions by seven units of the Defense Forces. Vyriy Industries claims that Slavic appeared in response to changes on the front itself. The so-called kill zone, the territory where people and equipment can be hit by drones, is expanding and in some areas reaches about 20 km. Therefore, reconnaissance crews have to move further and further away from the LBZ. And the range of conventional commercial copters may no longer be enough for this.
Slavic can stay in the air for up to 1.5 hours, operate at a distance of up to 30 km and navigate without GPS. In addition, an operator who is used to the Mavic will not have to completely retrain. The drone also has automatic altitude and position hold, as well as automatic returns and landings, so, according to the developers, the transition to the "Slavic" should not require a long retraining.
Slavic has a 40,000 mAh solid-state battery. According to the manufacturer, it allows the drone to fly for up to 1.5 hours, and the tactical range of use reaches 30 km. It is also equipped with a 2K camera on a three-axis stabilized gimbal. It supports 10x optical and 30x hybrid zoom. The communication system operates in a wide range of channels, so the operator can choose the less loaded one.
The complex will be delivered ready for operation without additional field modifications. Its remote control can be integrated with the DELTA and Kropyva situational awareness systems, and video from the aircraft can be broadcast directly to the VEZHA application.
The company is also testing two more configurations: with a thermal imager for night reconnaissance and with a repeater that can transmit a signal to other systems. Now Vyriy Industries is preparing to scale up production of Slavic and its supply to the Defense Forces.
Earlier, dev.ua wrote that Vyriy Industries attracted more than UAH 500 million through the Inzhur MilTech fund in just the first day of its operation. Certificates of the fund, which invests in corporate bonds of the drone manufacturer, were purchased by more than 12,000 Ukrainians. The company stated that the attracted capital will be used to expand production and purchase components
