In Barcelona, during the Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC 2025), which takes place from March 3-6, the world leader in mobile data traffic sharing, uCloudlink, presented a revolutionary solution in device connectivity, which formed the basis of the PetPhone gadget — the world’s first smartphone for pets.
Using its own HyperConn, CloudSIM, and 6-tech Positioning technologies, uCloudlink has offered a solution for connecting IoT communication devices, individuals, and even pets, writes Gizmochina.
The tool can be useful in monitoring your pet. The company has combined mobile Internet, fixed broadband/Wi-Fi and satellite communication in its solution. This innovative concept, based on centralized AI management, provides convenient, secure and premium connectivity across a variety of networks.
«The first smartphone designed for pets,» presented by uCloudlink, looks like a collar equipped with sensors and health monitoring functions, writes Notebookcheck. Citing the company’s words, the publication notes that the gadget can recognize certain actions, such as barking, and provide two-way communication between a person and his pet.
With the help of PetPhone artificial intelligence, animals will be able to initiate live calls and communication, the model determines the intention using certain gestures.
In addition, the gadget provides 6-technology global positioning, including GPS, AGPS, LBS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and active radar to monitor the pet’s location in real time. It is also used for safety and health monitoring using artificial intelligence that tracks the animal’s activity and well-being.
GlocalMe says the collar can recognize the sounds of pets and let owners know if they are excited or calm. If the collar detects excitement, owners can use the two-way voice system to «call» and reassure them with their voice. The system can also play pre-recorded voice messages.
Among the main activities that the gadget’s AI recognizes are running, eating, or sleeping. It also tracks behavior patterns and can alert you to unusual behavior.
The company says the device will cost between $199 (€186 or £155) and $299 (€280 or £233), depending on the model. GlocalMe plans to launch the device in the US, Europe and parts of Asia, with a global rollout planned for late 2025.
