The company is scaling up the use of AI agents, which already reduce development time by up to 70%, and introducing a new profession of Intelligence Engineer
In two years of GenAI Lab, the SoftServe team has created over 200 AI-based solutions for over a hundred clients. AI-based services are growing at the fastest pace in the company — 85% year-on-year growth. The greatest demand is for agent systems.
«We are one of the few in the world who already implement full development automation through agent engineering in real client cases — from requirements gathering to testing. Our strategy has three levels: we create GenAI solutions for clients, use agents to accelerate our own development, and implement AI into corporate processes. Thanks to partnerships with NVIDIA, AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, we are among the first to gain access to the latest technologies and can provide clients with measurable results where others are still experimenting,» explains Sergey Gaziyev, Advanced Technologies CTO at SoftServe.
If last year the industry discussed chatbots and RAG systems (search-augmented generation), now the focus has shifted to agent-based AI and is moving towards «physical» AI, which will be able to understand the environment and interact with it.
AI agents are going to projects
GenAI Lab develops practical solutions — from the first prototypes to large-scale business implementation for clients such as Cisco or Dell.
The company’s developers have access to a wide range of ready-made AI tools that are certified by the company (ChatGPT Enterprise, Cursor, Midjourney, and others), as well as to its own internal agents. The company’s portfolio already includes more than a dozen internally developed AI agents that automate project planning, analytics, testing, and engineering tasks. It is also developing its own Agentic Intelligence Open Platform to facilitate the development and more efficient implementation of AI systems.
SoftServe tests AI agents directly on client projects. Their use, depending on the project, can reduce development time and cost by 30% to 70%.
«We are not moving towards people using AI as another tool or application. No, we are striving for effective interaction between developers and virtual colleagues, which allows us to achieve previously unseen results,» comments Gaziev.
GenAI Lab creates automation agents to accelerate software development, as well as specialized agents for specific tasks. These include platforms for drug development, a hyper-personalized shopping assistant, and a manufacturing assistant. SoftServe currently deploys solutions in any environment — from the cloud to the client’s on-premises servers, working with NVIDIA, AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure technologies.
New profession: Intelligence Engineer
Over 150 specialists are already working on AI projects, forming cross-functional teams specializing in LLM, agent engineering, and AI-assisted development. Despite the growing demand, there is an acute shortage of highly qualified talent in the market, most notably in the Data Science direction.
According to a report by the World Economic Forum, AI could eliminate about 92 million jobs in the coming years. But on the other hand, it is predicted that as many as 170 million new jobs will be created.
SoftServe is already introducing a new generation of professionals — Intelligence Engineers. This specialist will be responsible for the interface between human expertise and agent work results, orchestrating agents, testing their work, and monitoring proper integration. Currently, the GenAI Lab team has 40 such specialists, and plans to expand the team at least twice over the next year.
Three skills of the future
According to Sergey Gaziev, three competencies will remain key in the market:
Business domain expertise
Architectural design of information systems
Orchestration by AI agents
The company is actively preparing the team for these changes: more than 50% of employees, mostly from delivery, have already been trained in AI and have acquired the necessary skills to work with these technologies.
Depending on your level of training, SoftServe offers several training tracks: from basic courses to deep technical specialization. Additionally, you can obtain international certification from NVIDIA, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, as well as participate in internal hackathons and technical workshops on artificial intelligence.
