Ukrainian internet television service youtv has suffered serious technical and financial losses as a result of recent Russian shelling. The infrastructure of two data centers, where the company and its partners' equipment was located, was hit.
Youtv CEO Maksym Smelyanets reported on the consequences of the attacks on his Facebook page. He called the past week one of the most difficult in the entire history of the platform.
According to the company's head, the service experienced the consequences of Russian attacks three times over the course of several days. Not only did youtv's own servers suffer, but also the infrastructure of partners from whom the platform received a significant portion of its television streams.
"The last two strikes on one of the data centers were especially painful for us. Some of the expensive equipment was actually destroyed," emphasized Smelyanets, publishing photos of the large-scale destruction of the server rooms.
To restore access to content for subscribers, the youtv technical team had to work almost continuously. Specialists quickly deployed backup capacity and began migrating some services. To increase security and avoid similar situations in the future, the company is moving its infrastructure to cloud environments and to foreign sites.
As of today, the YouTV service has been almost fully restored. Despite the serious losses, the company's CEO emphasized that the service remains in Ukraine and continues to work for Ukrainian users.
In Kyiv, there was a massive failure in the broadcast of Ukrainian TV channels on MEGOGO and SWEET.TV. The data center of the partner supplying the TV signal was damaged
