Hundreds of Ukrainian GlobalLogic engineers are working on energy projects. The company does not plan to go to the defense industry or Ukrzaliznytsia. Why?
Hundreds of Ukrainian engineers at GlobalLogic work on energy products, while parent company Hitachi’s other priorities include mobility and data centers. At the same time, GlobalLogic has no plans to enter defense projects and does not work with Ukrzaliznytsia.
Hundreds of Ukrainian engineers at GlobalLogic work on energy products, while parent company Hitachi’s other priorities include mobility and data centers. At the same time, GlobalLogic has no plans to enter defense projects and does not work with Ukrzaliznytsia.
This was stated by Andriy Yavorsky, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Technology at GlobalLogic, in an interview with LIGA.net.
According to him, Ukraine is one of Hitachi’s locations with the largest number of engineers, so the Ukrainian team is involved in all three areas — energy, mobility, and data centers. "In general, hundreds of Ukrainian engineers are involved in the development of energy products," said Yavorsky.
He explains the growing focus on energy, in particular, the large hardware component of this sector — transformers and other physical devices. With the development of data centers and the growth of energy consumption, the importance of this area, he says, is only increasing.
Separately, Yavorsky was asked whether GlobalLogic plans to use its Embedded competencies in defense projects. “We are not going in this direction yet,” he replied. According to him, Hitachi generally considers defense in the context of protecting people. This includes situational awareness systems, monitoring, medical projects, etc.
Another area that Hitachi is developing in Europe is mobility. It covers, in particular, the railway and automotive industries. At the same time, GlobalLogic does not cooperate with Ukrzaliznytsia and does not plan to do so yet. “These are multi-million projects where the final customer is the state, not a separate company. And in the case of Ukraine, there is a question of how and who gets such contracts,” Yavorsky explained.
