Mobile operators have received tools from the Ministry of Digital Affairs to combat spam calls and intrusive advertising. Yesterday, the government approved a relevant resolution on new rules for the provision of electronic communication services. They will be introduced gradually to give operators time for technical improvements.
"A business must conclude an agreement with the operator and register the numbers from which it can make calls. If not, calls from these numbers may be blocked automatically. Soon, the operator will be able to block a number at the user's request in the event of a spam call," said the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Mykhailo Fedorov.
The new rules provide for:
Spam protection. Operators have the right to block numbers that make mass calls without the subscriber's consent. Companies that plan to call customers must enter into a contract with the operator and use only the numbers specified in it.
If you receive a spam call, you can report it to your carrier and the spammer's number will be blocked. Also, communication providers have received tools to limit suspicious calls - before they reach subscribers.
Control. In their personal account, subscribers will be able to see their expenses, turn off paid entertainment, and manage their services independently.
Double consent. No paid content service will be activated without subscriber confirmation, instead, you will only pay for what you ordered.
Other changes:
Support for Ukrainians in the combat zone: SIM cards will not be blocked for non-payment. Also, a free communication package will be provided upon first login to the network.
Protection from debts. Limits for "minus" have been established.
Internet transparency. From now on, the Internet speed must be specified in the agreement. If the operator promises 100 Mbps, and you get 40, this is a violation of the contract. And if the real speed is lower, you can file a complaint with the National Commission for the Evaluation of Internet Services or go to court.
