This was reported by Futurism, citing a report by the financial media Calcalist about the speech of WSC Sports Vice President Itai Epstein at the Microsoft AI Tour technology conference in Tel Aviv.
According to Epstein, the company’s new technologies are opening up unprecedented opportunities for the sports media market. In particular, WSC Sports has entered into a partnership agreement with Israeli state-owned TV channel Kan 11 to create AI content dedicated to the FIFA World Cup, which is being held in North America this year. The platform’s algorithms independently analyze the live game, generate instant updates and create summary videos for viewers.
«Thanks to artificial intelligence, you can create much more personalized, localized sports content, where everyone can see only what they want, when they want, and where they want,» said the company’s vice president, describing the work with video during live broadcasts.
In addition to real-time analysis of adult games, the company has launched a separate division, WSC Studios. It uses generative models to create text, audio, images and video. Together with the NBA, the division created a children’s illustrated digital series «The Alley & Oop Show». The characters in it are voiced by AI using text-to-speech technology based on cloned voices of professional actors.
When asked by the audience whether this sports content is created completely automatically without classic studio production, Epstein answered in the affirmative. According to him, such deep automation has already made it possible to significantly simplify processes and involve far fewer people in the production of sports shows than before.
At the same time, industry experts are skeptical about such claims. Recent research suggests that artificial intelligence systems still have difficulty accurately analyzing, quickly indexing, and classifying sports events in real time. Therefore, it remains an open question to what extent the statements of WSC Sports management correspond to the real quality of the product, and to what extent they are part of a marketing campaign to attract new customers.
