Ukrainian studio GSC Game World announced the official release of a large-scale modification of STALKER Anomaly on the GOG digital video game store from Polish studio CD Project. Anomaly has been included in the curated list of the best mods and can be installed in «one click».
«Free stalkers, veterans, and hunters — it’s time to expand the boundaries of your adventures in the Zone! The legendary STALKER Anomaly modification has officially appeared on GOG — it is the result of cooperation between the authors of the modification, GOG, and GSC Game World,» the Ukrainian developers announced on their social networks.
STALKER Anomaly is a global fan mod for the STALKER game series, built on the X-Ray Engine 1.5, which combines content from the first three parts.
Anomaly on GOG offers three game modes:
«Anomaly has hundreds of built-in settings that allow you to customize your experience right out of the box. For more advanced customizations, there are also additional add-ons and packs available that offer even more options than the basic settings. This is your playground,» the mod’s authors say.
Although STALKER Anomaly is a standalone mod that does not require any of the first three STALKER games, it does require a purchased copy of STALKER: Call of Pripyat to run on GOG.
Anomaly joins the second wave of expansions to GOG Mods, along with Diablo HD Mod (Belzebub), SWAT: Elite Force, Return to Castle Wolfenstein (RealRTCW), GMDX for Deus Ex, Ashes 2063, and KeeperFX. According to GOG developers, these mods don’t just improve games, but also «preserve, extend, and maintain their viability.»
