«STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition will be available on May 20, 2025 on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC on GOG, Epic Games Store, and Steam. All owners of the game in the Steam library will receive a separate edition of STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition in the Steam and GOG libraries, which will be available for download immediately,» the developers note on their website.
Players who do not own the full trilogy will receive the updated version for free only for those games in their library. When purchasing STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition, the classic version will be added to the library for free.
Speaking of the graphical improvements in the Enhanced Edition, the developers note that «several key areas have received updates to improve the visual experience compared to the original games.»
These improvements include updated skyboxes, improvements to GodRays and the general lighting system, as well as improved surface reflections including moisture effects, improved 3D models for NPCs and weapons. In addition, textures have been improved and updated for greater detail. Some interface elements have also been updated to improve usability on both PC and consoles.
«Overall, these changes contribute to a more modern and engaging visual presentation of the Zone,» GSC says.
The developers have also updated weapon models and angles, fixed a number of bugs from the original, and improved the quality of the game. The games in STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition have full controller support, including «some key features of the DualSense controller» for PS5. They will also support 4K resolution, have achievements, and be adapted for the Steam Deck portable console.
For comfortable gameplay on PC (60 FPS in 1080p) with maximum settings, the developers recommend Intel Core i5-6600K/AMD Ryzen 5 1600X processors or better and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB and higher graphics cards.
While the original STALKER games came with Russian voice acting, which is still available in the classic versions, the enhanced editions have removed it, leaving only text localization. «For voice acting, players can choose from English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish, and Ukrainian,» GSC said. The corresponding mark is also on the project pages on Steam .
The developers note that numerous mods created for the original parts of STALKER will not work with the improved versions.
«Current mods are not compatible with STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition. However, the modding community and stalkers who value a modified Zone experience can still play with mods, as the original trilogy remains available in stores,» the project page states.
At the same time, improved versions will receive Steam Workshop support for modding.
