The R-2200 operates in the 2202–2602 MHz range. According to the stated characteristics, the station can maintain communication at a distance of at least 10 km, if there is direct visibility between the devices.
In addition, several such stations can be combined into a MESH network. A MESH network is a network in which devices can transmit signals through each other, and not only directly to the main communication point, and intermediate nodes can transmit data further along the chain. If one of the routes disappears, the network can rebuild itself and find another. This way, it will be possible to deploy a local network between remote users without being tied to a mobile operator or satellite terminal.
In MESH mode, the claimed data transfer rate is up to 54 Mbps, and with a direct point-to-point connection - up to 100 Mbps. The station also has Ethernet and Wi-Fi and supports reconfiguration of the operating frequency to prevent interference.
There are two versions of the device. The stationary R-2200 is powered by a conventional 220 V network, and the mobile R-2200-01 is powered by a 12 or 24 V on-board network, so it can be installed on vehicles. Both versions have already been codified and received NATO nomenclature numbers. According to the manufacturer, the R-2200 has already undergone trial operation in units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that communication remains one of the key challenges for ground-based robotic systems. Terrain, buildings, and other obstacles can limit the control range of the NRC and force the military to use additional repeaters, including those installed on drones.
So a MESH network could be a solution that would help solve this problem. Also this year, Ukrainian startup Bravo Dynamics tested such a system for NRC. Several nodes were placed along the route, which transmitted control commands and video from the robotic complex.
