Ukrainian developer Maksym Zhdanovich has launched the Stezha app and group GPS tracker. The project is designed to organize shared trips and navigation in conditions of no or unstable internet connection.
The developer spoke about the creation of the service and its main functionality in the Reddit community.
According to the author of the project, the idea arose due to the constant inconveniences when traveling with friends, when routes, geolocation and communication had to be kept in different services. «I became curious: why is there still no single application that would be created specifically for joint trips? That’s why I started making Stezha,» Zhdanovich noted.
The service is aimed at fans of off-road, ATVs, enduro, cycling and active recreation. The application combines tracking of trip participants on a single map in real time (with an update frequency of 1 second to 1 minute), support for offline maps with the ability to import GPX files and a built-in group chat. Joining a group is done using a code or QR code, and geolocation is displayed only to participants of a specific trip and only during its duration.
For emergencies, the app features a one-touch SOS notification system with sound and vibration. Group members can send one of four types of notifications: general danger, tow truck needed, police call, or medical assistance.
The developer has provided several tariff plans. The basic version is free (0 UAH) and is suitable for groups of up to 3 people with geolocation updates every 30–60 seconds and downloading maps of 2 regions. The advanced Rider and Club tariffs are designed for larger companies and off-road clubs, providing data updates every second and unlimited access to offline maps.
The Stezha app is already available for download on the project website and in the App Store. The author plans to add a version for Google Play in the future.
