CEO Club Ukraine announced the dismissal of its executive director and co-owner Dmytro Karchuk, who was detained in Poland in late July under a European arrest warrant issued by Germany. This was announced on August 14 by CEO Club Ukraine founder and president Serhiy Haydachuk.
According to him, the German side withdrew the arrest warrant for Karchuk. After that, the Polish court ruled on his release.
«Now Dmytro can return to Ukraine without hindrance,» said Haidachuk.
Ukrainian, Polish and German lawyers, representatives of the Ukrainian consulate and members of the CEO Club have been working on Karchuk’s release since July 28.
At the same time, the case itself is not yet complete. As Haydachuk noted, they now plan to find out whether the attackers could have used Karchuk’s personal data, how they gained access to it, and why this led to his detention in Poland. CEO Club suggests that this is a case of mistaken identity.
In support of Karchuk, 55 letters of recommendation were submitted by entrepreneurs, politicians, intellectuals, and opinion leaders. Another 11 people in Poland expressed their willingness to personally vouch for him.
Haidachuk also thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Consulate of Ukraine in Lublin for their assistance and consular support during the consideration of the case.
Why was Karchuk detained?
On July 28, 2026, Dmytro Karchuk was detained while crossing the Polish border. The basis for this was a European arrest warrant issued by German law enforcement officers.
According to the German side, in September 2024, the man arrived by truck at a warehouse in Germany, presented himself as an employee of a logistics company, used forged transport documents and received a shipment of 171 electric bicycles. The cargo, according to German law enforcement, was worth almost €127,000 and was not delivered to its destination.
German law enforcement officers linked this person to Dmytro Karchuk. That’s why they put him on the wanted list and issued a European arrest warrant.
After his arrest, Karchuk’s defense stated that he had no connection to the described crime. The circumstances under which his data could have ended up in the case have yet to be established.
Dmytro Karchuk has been heading CEO Club Ukraine since 2013. Later, he became one of the co-owners of the organization.
