The Vynohradiv District Court of the Transcarpathian region found a programmer from EPAM guilty of attempting to illegally cross the state border. The man was detained in August near the border with Hungary.
According to the court ruling of September 8, 2026, on August 13, at about 02:25, the border guard unit discovered a man approximately 90 meters from the state border line — within the border strip on the territory of the Vylotsk community of the Beregivskyi district. According to the case materials, he was trying to cross the border from Ukraine to Hungary on foot outside the checkpoint.
The court document states that the man works as a programmer at the company ERAM. He did not appear at the court hearing, although, according to the court, he was duly notified of the date and place of the case.
The court found him guilty of Part 1 of Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses — illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine. He was fined UAH 3,400.
In addition, the programmer must pay 665.60 UAH of court fees. The total amount of payments under the resolution is 4065.60 UAH.
The decision can be appealed within 10 days from the date of its issuance. If the fine is not paid within the established period, it may be collected in double amount.
