Ukrainian venture capital fund TA Ventures has participated in the Series A round of Tarjama, a leading provider of language technologies in the MENA region. The total amount of the round was $15 million, with Global Ventures as the lead investor. Other participants include Wamda Capital, Phaze Capital, Golden Gate Ventures, and Endeavor Catalyst.
The funds raised will go towards the development of Arabic.AI, an AI agent platform for businesses in Arabic-speaking countries, as well as scaling the new Pronoia V2 LLM model, which, according to the company, outperforms GPT-4o and DeepSeek-V3 in processing the Arabic language.
Founded in 2009, Tarjama has offices in the UAE and operates in over 30 countries. The company plans to expand its R&D team, strengthen infrastructure in key industries, and open an AI Academy to train business leaders in the region.
TA Ventures previously funded Ukrainian startup Pleso Therapy, an AI platform for mental health, with $1.2 million. One of the investors was Oleksandr Usyk, who recently started his career as a business angel.
