The social network Telegram has consolidated its status as the main source of information in Ukraine, overtaking traditional television. This is evidenced by the results of a recent survey conducted by the international company Ipsos in the second half of November 2025, Interfax-Ukraine reports .
According to the study, 62% of Ukrainians named Telegram as their main source of news. There is a generation gap: among young people (18–34 years old) this figure reaches 84–87%, while among people over 65 years old, only 30% use the messenger.
Television, which ranked second (49%), continues to lose ground among the active population, remaining the main media only for retirees. For example, among respondents aged 65+, 76% watch TV, while among young people aged 18–24, this figure has fallen to a critical 23%.
The third place is confidently held by YouTube (46%), which demonstrates stability - its audience is distributed almost evenly among all age groups.
The top five also included personal communication (38%) and Facebook (34%). Despite the popularity of entertainment content, TikTok is mainly of interest to young people under 35 as a source of news.
Sociologists paid special attention to the issue of trust, modeling the situation of obtaining information about hypothetical candidates in the elections. Here, "word of mouth" became the leader - 40% of respondents trust personal communication the most.
Telegram is trusted by 38% of respondents, and YouTube by 35%. Traditional media is experiencing a crisis of trust, with only 28% trusting television (with 29% expressing distrust), and even less so the press and radio. TikTok and television also have the highest anti-trust ratings.
Earlier, a study showed that in 2025, the volume of payments by Ukrainians on the Telegram platform increased more than four times - to over 30 million UAH per month.
