Ukrainian defense technology manufacturer BlueBird Tech has announced the launch of a rental service for electronic warfare systems. From now on, military personnel, volunteers, and civilian specialists can receive equipment from the "Grets" series for temporary use without spending money on the full purchase of the complex.
As the company notes, the new model is designed for several usage scenarios. The electronic warfare system can be rented to perform a specific short-term combat mission, for protection during temporary missions to a combat zone, or as a kind of "test drive" to check the effectiveness of the equipment in real conditions before final purchase.
The service can be used by private individuals, commercial companies, as well as charitable foundations and volunteer organizations.
What systems are available and how much does it cost?
The company currently offers three configurations of its systems for rent:
"Grets 4MC": an automotive modular complex designed to suppress commercial UAVs (in particular, DJI Mavic-type drones). It operates in the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz bands, consuming up to 700 W of energy. The rental cost is 2,500 UAH per day.
"Grets 4M": a lightweight portable system for countering FPV drones in the 470–530 and 700–1050 MHz bands. The claimed signal suppression distance is from 70 to 400 meters. Renting this model will cost 3,000 UAH per day.
"Grets XL": a powerful modular system for countering FPV drones, covering a wider range of frequencies (170–1050 MHz and 2080–2720 MHz). The client can independently configure the configuration, choosing from two to ten working modules. The rental cost of this system is calculated individually depending on the selected number of bands.
Mechanics and rental conditions
The rental procedure is formalized through an official contract and a handover certificate. The first day of the rental is considered the moment of actual receipt of the device. The key requirement for receiving the equipment is the payment of the full deposit, which is equal to the full cost of the device.
After the end of the term of use, the tenant returns the system to the company. BlueBird Tech technical specialists check the condition and completeness of the electronic warfare equipment. If the equipment is not damaged and is fully functional, the client is refunded the deposit minus the accumulated rent.
The developers also provided for the possibility of redemption. If during operation the user decides to keep the system, the rental fee continues to be deducted from the deposit amount every day. When the deposit is completely exhausted (i.e. the rental amount equals the full cost of the device), the electronic warfare system automatically becomes the property of the client.
