"The world will be okay". Palantir co-founder urges not to panic over threat of AI destruction of humanity
Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale has publicly rejected warnings that advanced artificial intelligence systems could cause mass extinction or take control of society, urging industry leaders to stop spreading panic.
Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale has publicly rejected warnings that advanced artificial intelligence systems could cause mass extinction or take control of society, urging industry leaders to stop spreading panic.
Lonsdale wrote about this on the social network X (Twitter) in response to a call for stricter regulation of the technology, Business Insider reports .
The security debate has intensified after Anthropic engineer Jacob Coxon resigned from the company and said that leading players in the market were putting society at risk. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei subsequently published a blog post warning about the risk of autonomous AI swarms taking over network infrastructure. Amodei called for a global slowdown in development and the implementation of tighter security measures. This position has been publicly supported by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google DeepMind founder Demis Hassabis, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, and Hugging Face CEO Clement Delange.
Lonsdale strongly disagreed with such rhetoric: "The world will be fine, my friends. Great responsibilities and challenges await leaders, but there is no point in scaring everyone. We have everything under control."
Lonsdale's position coincides with the rhetoric of US President Donald Trump, who criticizes pessimistic forecasts about AI and emphasizes the need to maintain a technological advantage in competition with China.
Palantir, which Lonsdale co-founded, specializes in AI analytics software for government and corporate clients. In the second quarter, the company reported a 93% year-over-year revenue increase, citing strong demand for enterprise AI solutions.
Тест dev.ua
