The feature is currently in «early beta» status and is available to users in Malaysia, Mexico, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore, Engadget reports.
To implement this functionality, Meta AI received an official @meta.ai account. Threads users can contact it in the comments to clarify the details of the news or get explanations about viral topics. A similar experience of use has long existed on the social network X (Twitter), where the Grok chatbot is used to check facts or explain memes, although Elon Musk’s decision has been repeatedly criticized for generating toxic content.
This integration is part of Meta’s transition to a new technology base — the Muse Spark model, which replaced the Llama family. In addition to Threads, AI has appeared in WhatsApp in the form of «side chats». They allow you to ask the bot the context of a group conversation, and these answers are visible only to the user who sent the request.
Mark Zuckerberg also announced further development of autonomous agents. According to him, the company is working on AI tools like OpenClaw that will perform complex tasks on behalf of the user.
«Muse Spark is the first major release from our superintelligence group. We are laying a new foundation for AI work in the post-Llama era,» the company said.
In parallel, Meta has updated its Live AI feature for mobile apps and Ray-Ban and Oakley smart glasses. Now users can receive information about objects that are pointed at by the smartphone camera or the lenses of the glasses in real time. However, the implementation is accompanied by privacy caveats: according to recent reports, recordings of these sessions may be reviewed by human moderators to improve algorithms.
Meta previously notified its U.S. employees of the changes, which will affect tens of thousands of them. The company said it would track everything: what employees type on their computers, how they move their mouse, where they click and what they see on their screens.
