US President Donald Trump’s sons will finance a new drone manufacturer, Powerus. The startup’s co-founder reported on negotiations with Ukrainian UAV manufacturers.
Powerus plans to soon go public on the Nasdaq through a merger with Aureus Greenway, a holding company that owns several golf courses in Florida. Aureus Greenway’s shareholders include the Trump family’s investment fund American Ventures, Unusual Machines, where Donald Trump Jr. is a shareholder and advisory board member.
«The drone market will grow much faster than the golf course market,» Powerus CEO Andrew Fox said of the upcoming merger.
Powerus co-founder Brett Velikowicz, a veteran of the US Special Operations Forces, said the company is in talks to acquire Ukrainian drone manufacturers or license their technology with subsequent production under an American brand in the United States.
«Powerus is a manufacturing and integration platform built for speed and stability. We take skills proven in complex environments and combine them within a single system architecture. Manufacturing is scaled using U.S. manufacturing facilities and strategic partners to meet mission requirements,» the company’s description says.
It was previously reported that the US and Qatar are in talks with Ukraine about purchasing interceptor drones as a cheap alternative to shoot down Iranian Shahed drones. They are also interested in acoustic systems for drone detection and electronic warfare equipment.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that there are currently requests for Ukrainian drones from 11 countries, most of which border Iran. Ukraine has already responded to some of them.
