Clark, who also heads Anthropic’s Public Benefit practice, made the remarks at the Semafor World Economy Summit, TechCrunch reports, acknowledging the paradox of the situation: the company is both suing and cooperating with the government.
Mythos was announced last week but has not been made public due to its strong cybersecurity capabilities, which the company considers potentially dangerous. Despite this, the Trump administration is reportedly encouraging major banks — JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Bank of America and Morgan Stanley — to test the model.
«The government needs to know about these things. We’ve spoken to them about the Mythos and we’ll be speaking to them about the next models as well,» Clark said.
In March, Anthropic filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Defense after the Pentagon deemed the company a supply chain risk. The conflict arose over the military’s demand for unrestricted access to Anthropic’s models — including for mass surveillance of Americans and fully autonomous weapons systems. The contract ultimately went to OpenAI.
Clark called the conflict a «narrow contract dispute» and made it clear that it should not interfere with broader cooperation on national security issues.

Anthropic decided not to open access to the new Claude Mythos model because during testing it showed the ability to independently find serious «holes» in operating systems and browsers and suggest ways to exploit them.
It was previously reported that Anthropic is concerned about the speed of cyberattacks that can be carried out using Mythos.
