«We recognize that the implementation of large-scale changes in the IT bank ecosystem, of which the mobile application is a part, was more difficult than expected. However, technical nuances should not always justify discomfort when using banking services. That is why, in addition to acknowledging mistakes, we want to thank our clients with a number of truly beneficial offers,» explains Adam Ozhekhovsky, Executive Director of Kredobank JSC.
Technical and security nuances and system load: why the launch of the KredoBank mobile application became difficult
The troubles that arose during the update of the mobile application were not associated with any security risks, loss or leakage of customer data. The IT team of Kredobank, which worked on the comprehensive update, emphasizes that the inconveniences arose due to a number of objective circumstances of a technical nature.
And precisely for security reasons, the new application has become unavailable to customers who use:
mobile devices running on outdated software versions and not receiving security updates for years,
or devices with unlocked ROOT access or unofficial firmware.
The development and testing of a financial application integrated with banking services and Action took place in conditions of constant software updates for mobile devices.
«Many of our hundreds of thousands of customers use not only phones with „pure“ Android or original iOS. A significant number of proprietary versions of software offered by mobile device manufacturers required constant additional updating and testing of the application,» emphasizes Lyubomyr Zalisko, Director of the IT Infrastructure Department of JSC Kredobank.
We are talking about global Android skins like Samsung’s OneUI or Google’s Pixel UI. As well as skins from Chinese manufacturers that are popular in Ukraine: Hyper OS and MIUI (Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco), Magic OS (Honor), ColorOS (Oppo), OxygenOS (OnePlus) or Realme UI (Realme).
All of these modified versions of Android have specific designs and features that vary significantly depending on the smartphone manufacturer. And each of these elements is constantly updated.
A separate risk that was taken into account for user security reasons was the installation of the KredoBank banking application on phones with unofficial versions of firmware. After all, «gray» versions of the software on both Android devices and Apple smartphones quite often contain malware or malicious code hidden from the user.
Against the backdrop of constant software updates and the need for additional adaptation of the application, the factor of overloading the bank’s IT systems also played a negative role. Simultaneous attempts to authorize a large number of bank clients in the new application led to difficulties with accessing databases that were difficult to predict.
However, the Kredobank team managed to gradually «regulate», test, and successfully implement many useful functional additions in the new application.
«We have carried out large-scale updates that concern not only design, functionality, but also infrastructure. This is a completely different mobile banking compared to its predecessor,» said Adam Ożechowski, Executive Director of Kredobank.
The bank is currently actively scaling its infrastructure to ensure stable operation and guarantee the highest access speed for each user.
Three bonuses for Kredobank customers: the best currency exchange rate and additional interest
The first of the bonuses that Kredobank offered to customers back in September 2025 was the «hot exchange rate» in the updated application.
Starting September 17, 2025, all clients in the KredoBank application can purchase foreign currency at the best rate among all banking institutions in Ukraine. US dollars, euros, and Polish zlotys are available for exchange and purchase.
Please note: The National Bank of Ukraine has set a limit for purchasing currency in the application — 50,000 hryvnias per calendar month.
Therefore, from October 1, 2025, saving money at Kredobank has become even more profitable, because:
customers who own the Pravlna card will receive not 5, but 6% per annum on the balance of funds in the savings account,
and for Craft Banking clients, the income from the balance of funds in the «Pocket» increased to 8%.
«From October 1, the interest rate on the „Kyshenya“ savings account for Kredobank clients increased by 1% automatically. No additional actions are required from clients, and using the „Kyshenya“ savings account in the KredoBank mobile application is simple and convenient,» explains Adam Ozhekhovsky.
However, Kredobank did not limit itself to the above-mentioned advantages for its clients. In addition to a more favorable exchange rate for purchasing foreign currency in the KredoBank mobile application and + 1% on a savings account in «Kyshena», a third bonus was introduced.
From October 8, 2025, an increased rate on deposits in hryvnia will apply to all Kredobank clients who open «Profitable» and «Craft» deposits through the KredoBank mobile application.
Therefore, the interest rate on the «Prybutkovy» deposit can reach up to 14,5% per annum, and on the «Kraftkovy» deposit up to 15,5% per annum.
Kredobank noted that they continue to improve the mobile application to make it even more convenient and reliable for customers.
