Ukrainian white hat hacker Mykyta Knysh questions the existence of offensive US cyber operations against Russia.
«They never existed at all, neither hidden nor open,» Knysh emphasized in a comment for dev.ua. According to him, the cyber command was created for slightly different purposes.
As a reminder, the head of the US Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth, according to The New York Times, has ordered the cessation of offensive cyber operations against Russia, which likely indicates attempts by the Trump team to establish a dialogue with the Kremlin.
According to the publication’s interlocutors, such an order allegedly came before the meeting between Zelensky and Trump at the White House, which ended in a scandal.
The publication notes that, in general, maintaining access to Russian networks for the purpose of obtaining information is important for the United States — in particular, for understanding Putin’s intentions in the context of negotiations.
But Nikita Knysh, in turn, emphasizes that the NSA has been, is, and will continue to be involved in collecting intelligence on Russia. The National Security Agency is an intelligence agency of the United States Department of Defense, subordinate to the Director of National Intelligence.
«So this is another fart on the part of Donald Fredovich, so that there would be a lot of noise and dust, it would stink a lot, but in fact nothing happened. Donald Fredovich is playing a game of concessions on paper with the Russians,» says Mykyta.
He adds that this raises a smile in the professional community of both hackers and former or current intelligence officers.
As a reminder, today a refutation of a media report appeared that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had ordered a halt to offensive cyber operations against Russia.
