«This is a very strange company, a very shady company. I know dozens and hundreds of manufacturers, each of which sits as quietly as possible, not attracting any attention, not shining anywhere or in anything — and they regularly fly in… And here is a company that shows the whole world how cool it is and how many Russians it kills,» Chmut noted in a video interview with Ukrainska Pravda.
According to Taras Chmut, Fire Point received proposals regarding potential cooperation.
«There was a request to purchase their products, but I refused. I just don’t want to deal with strange companies,» the fund manager added.
At the same time, Taras Chmut stated that he had not heard particularly negative reviews about Fire Point products, and questions about their quality usually do not arise. He called Fire Point drones with a large warhead, which are a kind of substitute for Russian KABs, especially relevant.
«I know that FP drones have been used by various agencies for several years with varying results. The big advantage is the powerful 105 kg warhead, and it is a kind of alternative to KABs,» he says.
However, Chmut believes that other manufacturers, with such large contracts from the state as Fire Point, would also easily learn to make quality products.
«Is this a form of corruption? Hardly… I don’t want to believe in the classic story with a bag of money, kickbacks, and some interest. But if you are a manufacturer and you are confident that the state will buy almost everything you are capable of making from you, and you will have your honest 20-25-30%, then you can already be a billionaire,» the head of the «Return Alive» fund concluded.
