"It's technically possible." Kitsoft CEO explained whether elections can be held in "Diya"

Kitsoft CEO Oleksandr Yefremov believes that online elections in "Diya" can be implemented technically, but before that, a number of complex problems need to be solved.
"If such a project is implemented, it will be quite complex and must have very high requirements for safety and reliability. But it seems to me that it is technically possible," he noted in an interview with dev.ua.
One of the main challenges, according to Yefremov, is that millions of people have changed their place of residence during the full-scale invasion, including going abroad.
“There are millions of Ukrainians who are currently abroad. And millions more have changed their place of residence within the country. That is, any elections, whether they are held with the use of digital tools or without their use, or perhaps with partial use, are a big challenge. After all, it is necessary not only to ensure the opportunity for people to vote, regardless of where they are, but also to ensure trust in this tool in the face of security risks and constant cyberattacks and interference from Russia,” Yefremov described the situation.
At the same time, he cited the example of Estonia, which has been conducting online voting in parallel with traditional voting since 2005 — in various types of elections, although he admitted that "for Ukraine it is much more difficult due to a number of factors."
As is known, Kitsoft, commissioned by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, developed the public services platform "Diya" and is directly related to the technological implementation of a number of services in "Diya".
