According to a study on digital and AI literacy, almost 92% of Ukrainian adults use the Internet every day. But only 58% have at least a basic level of digital skills. In addition, every fourth adult Ukrainian takes no measures at all to protect their data online.
Among the most common cyber threats are fraudulent messages, requests to transfer money from acquaintances whose accounts have been hacked, and fake websites that lure you into giving away personal information.
To help Ukrainians recognize such threats, the Ministry of Digital and the platform Diya.Osvita hold their annual Digital Literacy Month in November. This year, participants are invited to watch a free educational series called “Digital Skills and Online Safety” consisting of seven short episodes. It explains how to:
recognize fraudulent messages, fake websites, and calls from fake "bank employees";
protect personal data and act if an account is hacked or information becomes publicly available;
recognize deepfakes, cloned voices, and understand when AI is making up “facts”;
understand how social media algorithms affect the news feed and how to get out of the information bubble;
prepare backup communication methods and verify information during crises.
Also on Action.Education, they plan to launch flashcards with short instructions on online threats. They can also suggest what to do, for example, after receiving a suspicious link or in the event of a data leak.
You can also receive gifts for completing the training. To do this, you need to watch the series and receive a certificate after the final test by November 30. All certificate holders, including those who completed the training earlier, will automatically be entered into the draw.
