Ukrainian developers are working on a new technology — rotating turrets that could be effective in destroying Russian jet drones.
Military expert Sergey («Flash») Bezkrestnov spoke about this on Radio NV.
«There is a development that Fedorov (Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov, — ed.) talked about — it is not secret. We are talking about rotating turrets. Now we are shooting down the shaheeds with the help of mobile fire groups operating from the ground. Rotating turrets will be controlled by artificial intelligence — they will be guided to the shaheed, extrapolate its maneuvers, movements and, using, so to speak, a neural network, they will be able to hit more precisely,» the expert said.
Bezkrestnov gave an example: the Gepard artillery systems, which Germany transferred to Ukraine as an air defense system, successfully cope with rocket targets.
The only difference is that the Cheetahs capture the target using a radar station.
Ukrainian developers, according to him, will try to implement a similar solution using more budgetary and modern means — based on thermal imagers, with target capture using artificial intelligence and connecting anti-aircraft systems operating at high altitudes.
«Plus, perhaps we will change the tactics of interception with anti-aircraft drones. Now we are betting on catching up with Shahed, and perhaps we will work to get ahead. I am not inclined to pessimism, but there is still a lot of work to do. The only thing I call for is not to act after the fact, but to get ahead, as the enemy does. Because if we constantly catch up, and not get ahead, it will not end well,» Bezkrestnov noted.
According to him, it was clear that the Russians would take a countermeasure — they saw where Ukrainian specialists were going and how technologies were developing.
«The jet fighters did not appear from the air, they could not have been made in a day, two, or three. Since they flew in groups, it means that the enemy was preparing for this in advance and already has a certain batch of them in stock,» the expert noted.
