12 automatic turrets have already been installed in Kyiv, which are supposed to help combat Russian jet attack drones.
This was announced by Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov, advisor to the President of Ukraine on technological issues.
According to him, the turrets are a Ukrainian solution and use machine guns controlled by artificial intelligence to defeat the "shaheeds." Beskrestnov noted that the installation of such systems in the capital will continue.
President Volodymyr Zelensky also announced the installation of more than 12 turrets in Kyiv on October 4. According to him, eight more automatic combat modules designed for .50 caliber machine guns are planned to be installed in the Kyiv region.
Zelensky stressed that a combined defense system is needed against new air threats. According to him, Russia may rely more on jet drones and ballistic missiles.
Jet-powered "Shaheds" have a higher speed than conventional strike UAVs, which makes them more difficult to intercept. In parallel, Ukraine is developing other means of countering air targets, including interceptor drones and new missile solutions.
Separately, "Flash" appealed to Kyiv residents not to be near windows during air raids. He explained that during the operation of machine gun installations, bullets that did not hit the target may remain in the air and subsequently fall to the ground.
