Anthropic engineer Boris Cherny described his AI workflow. His development process now relies on several thousand AI agents, controlled mostly from a phone.
"I have the Claude app, and if you open it up, you'll see a code tab on the left - I just have a bunch of sessions running there," he said, showing off his phone to the audience during an interview with Sequoia Capital, Business Insider writes .
When Cherny was asked exactly how many sessions he had open, he replied that he usually runs "five to ten sessions," each containing several agents.
"I usually have a few thousand [agents] working every night doing some deeper work," he added.
Cherny noted that he relies heavily on two Claude Code features designed for continuous automation: /loops and Routines.
He said users can schedule /loops to run locally using cron, while Routines execute recurring tasks on the server, allowing engineers to keep agents running even after they've closed their laptops.
"It's just the coolest thing," he said. "If you haven't experimented with it, I highly recommend it."
This isn't the first time Cherny has talked about how he uses his agents. In January, he shared a description of his agent system on the X network, calling it "surprisingly simple."
