"Allies should have glassed Russia". Twitch blocks popular Hearts of Iron IV streamer for comments about Russians

The Twitch platform has banned the famous Danish streamer Bo Johannesen, known under the nickname Bokoen1, for six months. The reason for the long ban of one of the most popular figures in the community of the military-strategy game Hearts of Iron IV was his harsh political statements about Russia and its citizens.

The content creator himself reported on Reddit about the blocking and the unsuccessful attempt to appeal the decision of the platform moderators.

The reason for the sanctions from Twitch was Johannesen’s words that the allies in the anti-Hitler coalition should have «finished off Russia» after World War II. The streamer also expressed the opinion that the United States should have dropped the second atomic bomb not on Japan, but on Moscow.

«Given how backward the Russian population is and how they are doing nothing against their f**king dictator and authoritarian regime, they [the Allies] should have rolled them in glass,» Bokoen1 said during the stream.

Johannesen said he quickly appealed the platform’s decision, but moderators rejected it. Now the streamer will not be able to broadcast until at least the end of the fall.

During the ban, Bokoen1 is not allowed to appear on other channels (in particular, on his colleagues under the nicknames Golden and Swimmy). Twitch treats this rule as an attempt to bypass the ban, which threatens his friends with a ban. Bo himself assumes that after six months his account will either be restored or blocked forever.

Twitch previously blocked dozens of Russian content creators who were broadcasting the Alabuga Polytech Cup esports tournament with Counter-Strike 2. In addition to the game broadcasts themselves, the creators were advertising the Alabuga Polytech college, which is directly involved in the production of military drones for the needs of the Russian army.

The service later restored some of the accounts of Russian streamers — this happened almost immediately after the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine officially thanked the service for blocking these channels.
