This was announced by Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy.
«This is taking into account closed and accordingly removed from the register (due to de-registration and closure of „dormant“) individual entrepreneurs,» said Getmantsev.
The most popular KVEDs, under which the largest number of individual entrepreneurs are registered, remain IT and retail trade.
As of January 1, 147,800 individual entrepreneurs with the KVED «computer programming» were registered in Ukraine.
At the same time, although «computer programming» remains the most popular type of economic activity by the number of registered individual entrepreneurs, in 2024 the number of individual entrepreneurs in this area decreased by 1,6% (-2,400) .
In second place after IT are retail trade in food, beverages and tobacco (91,200) and other types of retail trade (75,200). The top five are rounded out by hairdressing and beauty salon services (71,600) and retail trade from stalls and markets (59,400).
In 2024, the share of individual entrepreneurs headed by women continued to increase, reaching almost parity with men. In particular, as of January 1, 2025, the number of individual entrepreneurs opened by women was 49,4%, and by men — 50,6%. A year ago, the proportion was 47,5% to 52,5%, and two years ago — 45,9% to 54,1%.
Over the past year, the number of registered individual entrepreneurs increased the most in relative terms in Kyiv (+11%), Volyn (+12.1%), Rivne (+12.4%) regions. The number of registered individual entrepreneurs decreased, as expected, in Donetsk, Luhansk and Kherson regions. At the same time, the number of registered individual entrepreneurs in Luhansk region (which is 36,200 people) is still higher than in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kirovohrad regions.
