This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.
Of this $6 billion, the largest share is investments attracted through direct purchases by partner states from domestic manufacturers for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — this is over $4.3 billion.
Also, almost $1.8 billion was directed to the production of Ukrainian weapons within the framework of the «Danish model.»
Recall that in 2024, Ukraine launched a new mechanism for financing arms purchases for the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Denmark, which was called the «Danish model.» It provides for financing of Ukrainian defense enterprises by the Danish government. Ukraine forms a list of projects requiring financing, and Danish experts check the recommended companies, assess their capacity and experience in contract implementation.
In the summer, Ukraine and Denmark signed an agreement that gives Ukrainian defense companies the opportunity to export their own technologies for production. «This is a unique case of international cooperation for the Ukrainian defense industry,» says Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin.
The third source of funds was frozen Russian assets — the Ukrainian defense industry received more than $1.1 billion from them.
Overall, the Ukrainian defense industry reached production capacities of $35 billion last year.
