The commander of the Achilles brigade, Yuriy Fedorenko, shared details of the work of their R&D center.
As he said in an interview with Forbes, the technological solutions developed by the R&D center become available to all units that wish to use them — they are willingly shared with other teams.
«We do not hide our successful solutions. For example, our R&D made a remote control for the Mavics so that the operators could sit on a tether. We have transferred this and many other solutions to 48 military formations, including the most famous ones,» the commander noted.
According to the military, their R&D center has also established cooperation with manufacturers, and the latter are able to produce products based on the defenders' developments.
«We also have constant communication with manufacturers — both with the top ones and with the „garage“ ones. The latter sometimes have better solutions than the leading market players. We also transfer our developments to manufacturers. Anyone who is ready to produce can receive technical documentation from us,» stated Fedorenko.
As the commander with the call sign «Achilles» says, representatives of their R&D center «analyze the external market» and «extract solutions from it,» as well as «develop their own according to the challenges on the battlefield.»
«As soon as we receive a finished product, it goes to our experimentalists. These are people in the unit who experiment with the latest drones and technologies. If a specific drone shows results, it then goes to the workshop. And the workshop scales the experience and transfers it to the entire structural unit,» he shared the details.
Fedorenko also added that the initiative for R&D solutions often comes from the soldiers themselves who perform combat missions, and the battalions have their own workshops and R&D facilities.
«All this is accumulated at technical meetings. At such meetings, we check how we are adhering to the strategy for the acquisition of combat capabilities and technical modernization. We also monitor that tactics and technical solutions are equally represented in all structural units of the brigade,» the commander said.
«It costs up to $5,000 to kill one Russian infantryman, but we need the death of a Russian to cost us $100.» Charter and Achilles explained how they are reducing this figure and how much they are spending
