The second Global Government Technology Center in the world after Berlin has been opened in Kyiv, which should become a platform for cooperation between governments, businesses, scientists, as well as technology companies and startups.

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, his press service reports.

"In 2019, we began to build a digital state... It is no coincidence that Ukraine became the second country in the world to launch the Global Government Technology Centre. I am proud that our progress is recognized internationally, and I am confident that GGTC Kyiv will become a center of cooperation, innovation, and transformative solutions in the field of digital governance," he noted.

GGTC was reportedly opened by the World Economic Forum and became the 21st Fourth Industrial Revolution Center in its network.

"The center will promote the implementation of innovative solutions, the exchange of best GovTech practices, and the implementation of joint projects. Thanks to cooperation with international partners, Ukrainian startups will be able to exchange experience and accelerate digital reforms in the public sector around the world," the Ministry of Digital Affairs notes.

The ministry adds that by applying AI, IoT, and blockchain technologies and focusing on cybersecurity, the center will contribute to the development of an innovation ecosystem with impact at the local and global levels.

GGTC Kyiv is headed by social entrepreneur Zoya Lytvyn, and the main areas of its work should be:

GovTech Observatory is a platform for tracking global and national trends in the field of GovTech.

Innovation Gateway is a platform for finding partners, piloting and scaling technologies in Ukraine with the attraction of global investments.

FutureGov Education is a training platform for public sector leaders to adapt emerging technologies, such as digital twins and artificial intelligence.

Recall that the official agreement to open the Global Government Technology Center in Kyiv took place at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2024.
