More than 2 months ago, a colonoscope with artificial intelligence made in Japan appeared in the oncology center, writes ZAXID.NET.
This AI system is used during colonoscopy, a method of examining the colon using a flexible endoscopic device.
The AI analyzes in real time about 60 frames per second and highlights suspicious areas with a special marker. The equipment also has functions for zooming and focusing the image.
Now doctors can detect even the slightest changes in the intestinal mucosa.
"Thanks to AI, having detected such changes, we can provide the patient with endoscopic treatment of benign tumors and thus prevent further development of cancer, as well as detect early stages of cancer. In our institution, the patient receives the necessary specialized care in full, which provides very good prospects for a further full life," said Bohdan Kyryk, head of the Endoscopy Center.
During this time, 120 people were examined and half of them were found to have some kind of colon changes.
