Rakuten Viber has announced the launch of a new AI feature — link summaries. Link summaries summarize the content of a web page in the form of key points. The feature will work with any text: from a large article to a report or blog post. The summaries have built-in translation: if the Viber application language is Ukrainian and the user receives a link in English, the summary will be displayed in Ukrainian.
Link summaries work on mobile in all chats — personal and group, as well as in channels and communities. The new feature is available for free to all users.
The AI only processes the web link itself and never accesses users' messages. As before, all Viber chats are protected by end-to-end encryption by default. The summary is visible only to the user who requested it, it is not visible to other chat participants.
In 2024, the company introduced Chat Summary, an AI-powered feature that summarizes unread messages in a short summary. This helps you stay on top of things without having to scroll through a long chat history.
The new feature will be available to all Viber users worldwide in the coming days.
