The 30-year-old hacker was kidnapped by the police at the end of January this year. The pre-trial investigation into the suspect has now been completed, according to the Zaporizhzhia National Police.
The attacker sold malware he developed that allows him to steal data stored on a computer. With its help, thieves can collect passwords from social networks, emails, bank accounts, and cryptocurrency wallets.
The hacker distributed this virus through hacker forums and specialized messengers, offering those who wanted to gain access to other people’s data. His «clients» could use the stolen information to hack accounts, commit financial fraud, or sell it on shady sites.
During a search of the hacker’s home, law enforcement officers seized computer equipment, a mobile device, and electronic media containing evidence of his illegal activities.
The indictment against the hacker has been submitted to the court for consideration. He could face up to three years in prison for his actions.
