One of the first Russian humanoid robots, created by the startup AIDOL, fell during a presentation in Moscow while triumphantly entering the stage to a song from the movie «Rocky».
«We know that many are concerned about the robot’s condition. He is in good hands, and we will do everything we can to help him recover quickly», the developers commented on the fall.
Business Insider reports that AIDOL later published a new video showing the robot with a bandage on its nose and a headband.
«My team is already hooking me up with a clean electricity drip and cleaning my camera lenses so I can see better and withstand the attention of a dozen camera flashes», the robot stated.
The AIDOL startup has been headed by Vladimir Vitukhin, who lives in Dubai and has «many years of experience managing federal IT projects» for the Russian government since 2023. On its website, AIDOL claims that its product is «Russia’s first anthropomorphic robot» with artificial intelligence.
«To be honest, we are a little surprised by the hype surrounding this situation in the media. AIDOL is a startup, one of thousands in the world and still one of the relatively few in Russia. We are focused on dynamic stabilization and the development of anthropomorphic robots. This is not a government initiative and is not funded by large corporations, but a small independent team of 14 people,» a company representative told Business Insider.
According to him, AIDOL is one of the «most modern» companies in Russia and is not inferior to «leading international developments.»
«For example, we created, in our opinion, the first robot with full facial expressions and support for offline dialogue taking into account the context. Given this, we are somewhat surprised that the fall of a robot from a small startup engaged in anthropomorphic robotics has caused such a resonance around the world. In our opinion, this is simply part of the normal process of developing advanced technologies,» the Russians said.
Recall that in late October, California-based artificial intelligence and robotics company 1X began accepting pre-orders for its humanoid robot Neo. It was designed to automate everyday tasks and is available for full purchase for $20,000 or a monthly subscription of $499.
