Ukraine is preparing BraveTech EU to invest in European miltech startups: Fedorov outlined the goal and risks

Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov stated that the launch of the platform is being slowed down by bureaucratic procedures in the EU, but Kyiv insists on a quick start.
The minister spoke about the plans in an interview with «Army TV», which is referenced by DOU. Fedorov emphasized that the result on the front directly depends on the pace of market development and the emergence of new technological solutions: «We are developing the market not for the sake of the market itself, but in order to have tools to destroy the enemy.» This is precisely what explains Ukraine’s entry into the European deftech and the attempt to «match» the demand of partners with the offer of Ukrainian developers.
Brave Tech EU is conceived as a «bridge» between capital and technology: from quick checks at early stages to the mechanics of joint testing and subsequent procurement. In parallel, the Ministry of Digital is building «home» prerequisites for scaling: transparent tender procedures, unified technical requirements and a single system for accounting for missions in the Deep Strike segment. It is here, Fedorov admits, that progress rests on political decisions.
A special emphasis is placed on UAVs. According to the minister, almost all of the current front-line demand is already covered by Ukrainian manufacturers: FPV platforms have replaced the Chinese DJI Mavic and in the spring became the main tool for defeating infantry. In the missile sector, the state has issued more than 20 grants and announced a competition for the construction of explosives production plants — this should improve the supply chain and reduce dependence on imports.
The key risk is the delay in updating export rules and cooperation with European partners. «We need to quickly adopt modern rules for export and cooperation. Otherwise, the moment will come when drones will be produced by Ukrainian companies, but with the logo of another country,» Fedorov warned.
At the same time, he is convinced that a model of a market defense economy has already been formed in Ukraine, which can be scaled to other industries, provided there is political will and synchronization of standards with the EU.
Recall, dev.ua previously wrote about how Mykhailo Fedorov said that the future of the battlefield lies in remote control of UAVs and full autonomy of drones. According to him, the Ukrainian state is investing in autonomous systems so that operators can control drones not from the front line, but from any corner of the country.
«Technological independence is not a theoretical issue, but a condition for survival.» What components does the miltech industry lack to 100% localize production in Ukraine, and why should we strive for this?
