This was announced by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, on the air of the "United News" telethon.
This is about the joint production of Octopus-100 interceptor drones. This is the first Ukrainian combat drone to be mass-produced in a NATO country, Umerov noted.
Initially, they will experimentally manufacture up to 1,000 drones. Then they will scale up production to the required quantity.
As Umerov explained, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine retains intellectual property over the technology and control, and together with partners they will manufacture and scale the hardware part.
The OCTOPUS project was announced by London in September: it is a Ukrainian interceptor, proven with the participation of British specialists and designed for mass production “in the thousands per month”. The concept is to give the Armed Forces of Ukraine a cheap and technologically simple tool against the “Shaheeds” in order to reduce the load on expensive air defense systems and improve the economy of air defense. Britain is also promoting the idea of a “drone wall” for NATO’s eastern flank, where OCTOPUS should become one of the key modules.
